A Valentine's Day Gift
The sun was shining, the air full of Spring. What better than to Cob!
And a Fridge was born. Naturally cooling, reusing an insulated door, this fridge will simply be cobbed into the north-facing wall of the kitchen. No electricity needed, no drafts created. It still needs a paint job and a screen but all the cobbin's done!
In the cooler parts of the year, food will keep for many days, even weeks. The Winter of 2014/5 had at most a few hours of zero and below temperatures, so freezing is likely not a concern even in the deep of winter.
In the warmer parts of the year, food will keep for a few days only. I'll post how long when I get a chance to thoroughly test. I'm blessed with an efficient chest-style refrigerator that runs on 12V DC power generated by the sun, so critical items keep for as long as needed even in the hot times. But I'll be curious to know just how long non-critical items will keep in this zero-energy creation....
